Watched my eldest being born at 4am, 1st Jan 96 (first went up the hospital at 9am on the 31st Dec), back and forth all day long, ending in an epidural before he finally arrived.

Didn't get a drink in for NYE in until 6am the following day. A JD n coke alone back home.

A surreal, but wonderful start to the year.

Re: 1996
Pretty good Summer for me, I went to both the FAC final and the Euro 96 Semi at Wembley. I can still remember 'it's coming home' being sung inside. A great atmosphere - despite everyone being miles away from the pitch!? The FAC was my debut at Wembley as it looked like West Ham would never make it there (I had been waiting for us to get there). I was just about to start University too, happy days.
